Exactly who are we?
The organization Amazon Pueblo is run and staffed totally by volunteers. We come from all parts of the world, but primarily from North and South America and Europe. Our management team (Board of Directors) are from the US states of Maine and California.
In brief, what do we do?
The Amazon Pueblo project is dedicated to helping indigenous villages of the Colombian Amazon to live sustainably through the development of socially conscious business. The Yagua community of La Libertad is the first village in which we work.
How will we do this?
We believe the best way for us to accomplish our mission is by helping the villagers to help themselves. We listen to what the people say they want and need, analyze the information, look for opportunities in the region and abroad, and help the people to organize and act.
How do we get the money to do our work?
We fundraise from friends, family, at community events, and from online donations. Please visit our donation page if you would like to be a part of our work.
At our fundraiser events we also sell handcrafts made by the villagers and Colombian emeralds and emerald jewelry.
